My native language is Spanish, but I am proficient in English. This proficiency has given me the opportunity to work in various fields. I have 20 years of experience in translation and almost 14 years in interpretation.
As a translator, I have worked on books (both fiction and non-fiction), articles, letters, newsletters, websites, subtitles, and more.
My journey as an interpreter began in a non-profit organization where I lived and volunteered for 12 years. My task was to ensure that everything said in one language was understood in the other by the guests, students, and staff who came to the organization all year long. I interpreted meetings, lectures, classes, and conferences, both consecutively and simultaneously. Sometimes, I interpreted standing next to the speakers (who came from various nations), and other times, I spoke directly to the audience members' ears. My work often involved long hours, including interpreting at 3 AM.
Currently, I work as a medical OPI (over-the-phone interpreter) and a VRI (video remote interpreter), helping providers communicate with their patients. I have been doing this type of interpretation for three years, constantly growing and learning, and finding satisfaction in helping the LEP (Limited English Proficient) community.
I am part of a community of interpreters and translators, and we're open for work. Contact me if you would like more information.
